Dear District 44 Families,
We know our families are anxious to receive more information on our reopening plan. At tonight’s Board of Education meeting, we did provide an update (video of presentation). Our final plan was not presented; that will still be released to families next week, as promised in our last communication.
I want to stress the reason why we continue to work on developing our plan is because information continues to rapidly change overnight. We remain committed to providing our parents with a plan that is done right versus being done and has to be redone because of guidance and mandates shifting, causing further confusion and frustration.
As part of our update to the Board of Education tonight, we did share the following information:
- That all staff and parents should prepare for a remote start to the school year. For how long, we have not determined a date yet.
- That we are exploring daycare options for our families to support them during this time of remote learning.
- That we have made significant improvements to our health and safety protocols to keep students and staff safe.
- That our intent is to eventually bring students back into our buildings, but doing so while adhering to new safety regulations. Once this occurs, parents will still be provided an option for their students to remain at home, remote learning.
Now, I know many of you have questions about the information I am sharing tonight. Therefore, tomorrow we will be communicating with you about a meeting that will be taking place with your child’s principal where you can ask questions and receive more information. Prior to that meeting, we encourage you to share your questions in advance by using this form. This will ensure we are as prepared as possible to address your needs. We will again include a link to the form when the plan is released next week.
Again, more information will be forthcoming. However, we understand the importance of keeping you informed throughout every step of this process.
