6th Grade Survival Skills

This program is for incoming 6th graders and will be held July 31-August 4 from 8am to noon. Registration will be online only from April 10 to May 1. Please click the title of this news item for the information packet containing directions on how to register. Contact Gina Pedota at with questions.

PTSA Flats of Flowers Sale

The PTSA will be selling flats of flowers, hanging baskets, and flower pouches again this year. All of the profit goes to directly fund Westlake PTSA programs.

Orders and payment due Friday, March 10, 2017
Cash & Checks payable to GWMS PTSA.

Send printed orders to school with your child, drop them off at the school office, or complete the order electronically and email it to Then send your check to the school office with your child.

Order Pick Up: Saturday, May 6th 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Volunteers needed 7:30 am – 12:00 pm!

Skyward Notification Emails

We have enabled a new function in Skyward that will allow you to subscribe to email notifications about your child's grades. To enable it, please login to Skyward, click "My Account", go to "Email Notifications". There, you can check the box to receive grading emails. The email will include information about missing assignments, classes lower than a certain percentage, or assignments lower than a certain percentage. The school default percentage is 70%, but you can change it however you would like. Currently, only the parent listed as Parent 1 in Skyward will be able to set the percentage. Emails will be sent weekly.

Yearbook Deadline - January 17

The final deadline to turn in money for a yearbook is Tuesday, January 17. Cost is $30. Bring cash or a check made out to GWMS and turn in money to Mrs. Pittman (1801) or Ms. Neelen (1807).

The purpose of the 5Essentials Survey is to allow parents and students an opportunity to provide feedback on performance of their school.
